Parents sponsorship with EI benefits

Hello,

I am a PR. I have applied for my parents sponsorship (India) from Canada a year ago when I was working.Recently I was laid off.

If I apply for Employment Insurance benefits , does it effect my parents sponsorship application that is in progress?

Please advice?

Not at the present time, but Mississauga will probably check to see if you still meet the Lico before they send it to NB in about 18 months.
