Hi everyone. I had a question regarding form IMM5748e (Income Sources for Sponsorship of Parents)

I became a Canadian PR in Feb 2019 after moving here and was working the United States before that for many years.
If I apply for sponsoring my parents this year, I would be asked for Canadian Income Tax returns in the last 3 years. I have continuously worked in United States and Canada (post Feb 2019) and have enough income to meet the eligibility for all years. However, I cannot show tax returns for 3 yrs as I was not working in Canada before 2019.

My question is- Will tax returns from United States be accepted for 2018/2017 ? I would love to know from someone who was in a similar situation as mine!

You need 3 years of NOA (from canada tax return) that meet the minium amount to qualify to sponsor your parents.
So, no, you do not qualify. There are MANY people in similar situation. (once in a while, we see a post saying this is a "special" situation. but really it's very common)

Thank you for your response ! I am a bit suprised because it does not clearly mention on their eligibility page that we have to be permanent residents with Canadian income for at least 3 years :/ but yes it is under proof of income and honestly I was hoping there was an alternative to this.

It actually does say this clearly in several places. One example is provided below. There are no alterantives.
