Hi Everyone,

My parents had visitor visa and they came in Canada in 2021 and stayed for 3 months and went back to Pakistan,

then they came in 2022 and now its their 18 month in Canada, we applied for visitor record we got visitor record for 20 months based on medical grounds.

Now my parents are leaving for Pakistan and we need them back on same medical grounds in May (going through operation and disability in family). I heard that these days they are now allowing people to enter into Canada despite having valid visas. What do you suggest should I go for another visitor record or they won't face issue on re-entry as we have all doctor records and they can show them on re-entry,

Regards

It's always up to the CBSA officer if someone is allowed into Canada and for how long. A valid visitor visa has never guaranteed entry into Canada. If someone has been in Canada for quite a while as a visitor, it is recommended they remain outside of Canada for some time before returning. It's good that your parents are spending a number of months outside of Canada before returning. More would likely be better but it sounds like you need them back sooner. Ultimately it will be up to the CBSA officer if and how long they are allowed into Canada. There is nothing you can do unfortunately to guarantee re-entry.

Going for another visitor record would be useless. The visitor record does not allow them to re-enter. All it does is allow them to remain in Canada longer without leaving.
