Hi,

I want to get a PR for my Parents. Can anybody explain the:
1. Process.
2. Requirements.

Is it difficult to get PR for parents... They are both less than 65 yrs.

Thanks

The parents/grandparents sponsorship program has been changed for 2019 from a random lottery to a first in application process. The actual logistics of the new process as I understand are still to be announced but as with the current process is likely to be heavily oversubscribed but expect will still have elements of current process such as sponsors funds and health of the applicants.

It is certainly not easy and there are plenty of views on both sides whether the new process will be any better or not than the current process given so many people want to bring their parents/ grandparents. Some people have been trying for years to get a result given there is a specific annual quota.

Current process in link below

Since you are only planning on moving to Canada in 2019 you likely have at least 4-5 years before you can apply if you are not moving to Quebec. Once you've established yourself in Canada (6 month-1 year at least) you can apply for a supervisa if you want your parents for longer periods. You will have to pay there health insurance for acute incidents. This is still only for visiting so they will need to keep their home and return.
