Hi Guys,

Just wanted to share some bad experience which I had for my parents immigration and I want some advise.
I applied for Parent immigration and it took 6 years for them to get COPR (Confirmation of Permeant Residency) in 2013, expiry date for COPR was January 2014 so they have to travel with in this date.
In November 2013 my father had an accident bec. of this he was on bad and not even walk....during his bad time he was also caught with some other illness. due to his they are not able to travel to canada and COPR expiry date passed.... in November 2014 my father passed away...
My mother could not travel alone because my father was a principle applicant.
Now I am thinking if there is any way I can ask Immigration canada to re issue my mother New COPR so she can come to canada with PR.
Any one with any advise or guide line that I can follow ...

Please advise....
JF

Sorry to hear about your loss. Am not sure if the principle applicant is no more. Can the dependent alone will be given a permission to travel (Sorry not sure).

However if that is possible, I think the best way would be to contact the visa office that had handled your file. May be explain what has happened (With prove of accident, may be medical bills, doctors note and possibly a death certificate). I would also write a detail letter of the circumstances of your family not being able to travel.

Have you spoken to a lawyer. Usually I am not in a favor of Lawyers or consultant. But in your case I am thinking that they may be handy?. Good Luck

Very sorry for your lost of your father. Sorry to hear.

As for your question, yes the dependent of the father (mother in this case) can then be the applicant. There is a procedure for that. However since your parents didn't land by required COPR date, that makes it all the more complicated.

I really don't know the answer or can provide you an clear answer. All I know is that the dependent (other spouse) can become an applicant, in event, the main applicant passed away before COPR was issued.

The CORP expired well over a year ago - CIC isn't going to reissue it.

I think you have two realistic options: (1) apply to sponsor your mother again from scratch; (2) if she can get to Canada on a visitor visa, apply for H&C.
