Hello,

I am planning to apply for may mom's super visa and have a few questions and I would greatly appreciate any help on those.
She's currently a US permanent resident and stays 6m+ in US but has to travel to my home country (not Canada) to take care of her elderly mom for a few months a year.
In this case, I am wondering what would be the best location of her residence in the visa application? For example, is there a way to indicate my home country as her current city of residence so that she can pass the medical exams there, and when in a few months she goes to US is it possible to arrange her to get the visa eventually stamped in US? I am asking as she's going to stay in US for about 1-1.5 years when she goes this time in order to apply for US citizenship, so most probably she'll be there when the visa is ready and they ask for passport.

Many thanks in advance.

Given she is a US PR she may get her visa approved quite fast under CAN+. So if the travel to her home country is not immediate she can apply for SV and do medicals in US. In the application they will ask you for an address history where you need to provide where she has been staying from which date to which date. So if she applies while she is in US she has to put current address as US address if she is living in US at that time. If that is not what you want you need to submit the application when she is in her home country.

In any case both medical and visa stamping can be done in her home country as well.

Hi Cansha,

Thank you very much for your response! My mom is currently back home where medicals are cheep to pass but will be leaving to USA in 2 months in order to maintain her PR there, so I guess I'll have to put her US address on the application if we start from there. Can you please advise if you have idea on how much it might cost to pass the medicals in US? And is it an option at all to start the application now while she's back home so that she can obtain her medicals there and then update the location address in the system to US address for the final visa stamping purposes?

You can check cost with the IRCC approved medical facility nearest to you in USA. You will find a list on IRCC website. Just search for it and you should find the list.

This is possible but as I said your mother being a PR of USA may qualify for expedited processing under CAN+. This is decided by IRCC after application submission. If that happens she may get visa in less than 2 weeks of medical approval. So you may not need to update address. As a GC holder of USA she doesn't need visa to visit Canada for short term so my guess is her approval may be quite quick.

Thanks very much Cansha. What's the CAN+ if you don't mind?
Yeah, makes sense that you say the PPR might come unexpectedly fast w/GC, however the only problem with quick visa in our case would be that our Visa Center attached to the home country is located in Moscow, so based on the current situation over there not sure iv the Canadian Embassy/Visa Center is even functioning properly... anyway worth calling them and checking if they operate normally!
But just in case e have to start in home country and switch over to US if the visa not ready in 2 months, how is this process technically possible? Will the update in residence address in the online application automatically update the visa center too, or should we contact IRCC in order to change the visa center?

Why not just apply for visa once your mother is back in USA?

To answer your question you can ask for visa stamp in a different country, you will need to send a web form request to IRCC.

Great, thanks a lot. yes I'll probably clarify a few things with visa center and assigned medical clinic and will do accordingly.
Regarding the ties to the home country, do you know if the reasons (people-dependents, property, etc) need to be shown with separate proofs for each (for example birth, marriage certificates of these people, property ownership documents) or this is just something that needs to be explained in details on the invitation letter?
Thanks again in advance.

You don't need relationship proofs. In the form they will ask for relatives information so just fill that out. Yeah property in name does show home ties. And generally people show it in "Proof of Funds". But since your mother has valid visa of USA she will not be required to upload "Proof of Funds" so you can upload in additional information section.

As I said given your mother's status in USA her visa approval may be fairly quick.

Hi Cansha, sorry to bother you again with this question( but do you know if it's possible to pass upfront medicals in one country (where the applicant currently is), and start the application based in another country when she leaves & where she's planning to undergo the rest of the visa process?

Yes you can do an upfront medical in one country and if you need further tests you can do them in another country.

Hello, just wanted to thank everyone on this thread for helping me with the supervisa related questions. My mom's SuperVisa application got approved today (submitted in Dec 2022). Since she has a US green card she wasn't asked to provide her passport for visa stamp, but was rather provided a letter to give the boarder officer upon her entry.
I have a question though. The letter says Validity is 5 years from now, however I was under the impression that super visa is granted for 5 years at a time, but for max 10 years period. Isn't it the case anymore? I also found the 10 year information on this link - The super visa is a multi-entry visa that provides multiple entries for a period up to 10 years. The key difference is that the super visa allows an individual to stay for up to 5 years at a time in Canada, while a 10-year multiple entry visa would only have a status period for each entry of six months only. https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=426&top=16
Also another question, if for example she enters Canada not now but say in one year, will the visa's remaining length be 4 years only? Or it's automatically 5 year after each of her entries withing next 10 years?

Please kindly advise if you know, as we are quite confused (
