I am a Canadian resident here since 2011

I have my father who is 67 visiting from India. He has multiple entry visa for both Canada and USA.
On his tourist visa, he is expected to leave within 6 months of being in Canada.

My question is: if his six months of staying in Canada are coming to an end, and he decides to go to Florida (USA) for one week. Then can he enter Canada and stay for another six months, or he must return to his country of primary residence for the 6 months to be reset.

I hope I am clear enough.
Guidance will be appreciated.
Thanks

He can try but it would be up to the officer he encountered at the border / airport.

You do know that the border can see what he is doing ?
He’s not allowed to basically live in Canada .
Attempting to manipulate the system is a fine way of him getting stopped
You being a PR from 2017 is irrelevant
You can live here, he can’t

I don't mean to manipulate the system. I have two small kids and a wife who is going through medical procedures.
Day care in Ontario is impossible to get into.
So at this point in time we need some help and I have no family here so sorry if this comes across as manipulating the system but that is not the intention.

I will apply for his super visa.
I hope that works out because he has never ever overstayed his trip.

But you can try to extend his stay up to 2 years, maybe?

The best option would be to try to extend his current visit via visitor record if your wife is ill. Once your spouse is healthy he can return to India, reestablish his life there and then apply for a supervisa for subsequent visits.

If he doesn't need to travel for Florida (not a real vacation/trip), then just apply to extend his stay as a visitor as suggested since your wife is sick.
There is always risk with immigration (no matter it's re-entry after a trip or an application to extend his visitor stay).
