Hi, I am a American female married to a Canadian citizen. I love my husband very much and we have been fighting to be together for over 3 years. I've been in Canada for 3 years on extensions and Its almost time for reapply for one. The problem I am having is that they lost my medical. They use a different system now than they did in 2012 when I applied for my permanent residency so they are requesting me to do another one. They wanted more proof of our marriage, this and that and its frustrating because we sent all of this in including notarized affidavits, pictures and more. The first step isnt even done yet so I can work. Its so stressful. What should I do about the medical? We recently sent in the receipts from the doctor for proof. SO we are waiting for that. Please help. any suggestions ? Thank you.

If you applied over 3 years ago, the first thing your husband should be doing is contacting his MP to get a straight answer out of CIC about the hold up. You are going to have to do another medical exam whether you like it or not. Sending in your old receipts from the medical 3 years ago isn't going to cut it. If they are asking for more proof of your relationship, send them any information that you have accumulated since you originally filed. Surely you must have cards, bills, pictures anything of that nature in the last 3 years. If they are asking for things from you, that means they are finally working on your application.

***just noted that you stated you applied in 2012. Just point of reference, that is not 3 years.

did you apply through inland or outland?

also, have you ordered your GSCM notes to understand what the conerns are?

If you applied outland, and you are out of the normal processing for an application, then the MP may be able to help as the above poster mentioned. keep in mind, "normal" processing is dependant on whether you applied inland or outland, and which visa office your application is in.

I agree, there is no choice about the medical. luckily you are in canada, so it's cheaper than getting one in the US.

OP applied inland in late 2012. So she's not quite at the two year mark yet. She has been asked to provide more info to prove her relationship is genuine and does not have Aip yet. Based on that my guess is her file is stuck in the black hole that is the Etobicoke office.

OMG Scylla! You NAMED the black hole? Now it will never ever go away ;)

..Of course, for those of you who have not encountered me before ... I am just joking ...

The OP's issues are real, but we all must try to laugh now and again or we'll just sit around and cry ;)
