I am a paediatric intensive care nurse looking trying to understand my options for immigration to Canada – probably Ontario.
My background is a little bit complicated:
- I am German and completed my nursing qualification in Germany – this was vocational training rather than a degree
- I moved to the UK in 2005 and have since worked in the NHS has a registered nurse
- I became a British citizen 2 years ago part of which was demonstrating competency in English
- Is paediatric nursing recognised as a separate qualification and registration like it is in the UK?
- Are paediatric intensive care nurses in demand?
- Will my qualifications be accepted as comparable or will I need to pass NCLEX?
- Will I need to take the English test?
- Is NNAS the only route for recognition? From everything I have read it seems like an expensive and long process to get a non-comparable determination!
- When I came to the UK there were specialist nursing recruitment agencies for overseas nurses that worked with candidates for free. Are there any like this in Canada?
- Is there an optimal route to fast track getting registered as a nurse?
