I am inland sponsoring my American husband, who currently has Visitor Status until June 30, 2017. On the OWP application, are we just applying for that, or should we also check the box to apply for a Temporary Resident Permit at the same time? If we do, does it cost double the fee? If we don't, will we have to apply to extend his status in June?

Do you mean a TRV rather than a TRP? TRPs are for people who are inadmissible to Canada - typically due to a crime.

Question 3 on IMM5710E Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or remain in Canada as a Worker:

I am applying for one or more of the following:

-A Work Permit with the same employer
-Restoration of your status as a worker
-An initial work permit or a work permit with a new employer
-Temporary Resident Permit

No - he doesn't need a TRP. Again, TRPs are for people who are inadmissible to Canada - typically due to a crime.

I guess my question is: Does he have to also apply for an extension, or does the OWP do it all?

If he is granted the OWP (which nearly all inland applications are approved for), then he only needs that. It will permit him to remain (and work if he chooses) in Canada for the validity of the permit. With that permit, he will have 'Worker' status in Canada.

Permits are usually issued for which ever is sooner: The expiration of the passport - 1 month, or 2 years from the date it's granted.

Select the third option, "initial work permit".
