My wife will be applying to study permit and I will be applying for a open work permit. The official website did not answer my question. Will I need police background check? What is the usual processing time for spouse OWP?

yes you need police clearance certificate

Would you please share where have you seen it on the website? It says you need police certificate only when you apply for express entry or PR.

for temporary permits, if they make a request then you have to otherwise No.

Yup. That's what I have been told and saw on the website. I assume that visa will not be granted till they see the actual report, correct?
