Hi all seniors,

My spouse received medical exam request for Open work permit. She is pregnant. The medical exam requests applicant has to finish within 60 days.
We plan to go for the exam after our baby birth since the due day is in next month.
Please I need any advise from all of you. If 2 weeks after she gives birth is a proper time to go for medical exam? Is there any one has the same stage?
Thank you!

1. She cannot have medical exam while you are expecting a baby even if you want to. So it has to be done after the delivery.
2. The 60 day timeline won't apply since you case would be an exception. You should simply email the embassy informing them of your situation and they would accommodate it.

3. It is tough to say whether two weeks post birth is a good time to do medical or not. Generally it shouldn't be an issue but it depends upon whether the birth would be normal or c section or if their is (God forbidden) any complication due to birth. The best person to ask is your doctor (gynecologist in particular) and she should be told (in case she doesn't know already) what type of tests would they take. Generally those are nothing more than chest x-rays, blood and urine tests unless the suspect something.

I think you should inform CIC and try to get medical done with in 60 days (if you are pretty certain your delivery occurs with in a reasonable time before that). This means you would use the same form that CIC emailed you for medical and doesn't change any thing related to processing for CIC.

Otherwise, they would probably issue you a new letter for medicals, when you can actually take medicals.
