I applied for PR and OWP under inland spousal sponsorship in August 2018. My passport was expiring in 21 June 2019. So, got OWP and visitor visa till 21 June 2019. I got a new passport in February 2019.

I was hopeful to get PR result by 21 June 2019. But, haven't heard anything after spousal approval in April.

Now, I am trying to apply for open work permit extension. So, that I don't go out of status. But, I am not getting option to apply for OWP without AIP. I have heard I shouldn't apply for TRV as they have high chances of getting rejection at this point. I am confused what should I do now? Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

If you are using the online tool, it will ask you if you have AIP and if the CIC has told you that you have AIP. You just select no. Towards the end, after selecting province, It should ask you what best describes your situation, and you select OWP

I selected OWP but it still shows application for visitor visa in the end.
