Hi,
My husband is going to file his work permit extension which is valid until Sept 2011 and his employer doesn't facilitate processing extension of my OWP .

The only option provided by the employer is to apply for VISITOR visa for the wife.

I'm currently working in Canada and would like to apply for my OWP extension.

Can you pls suggest if I have to file for VISITOR VISA extension first and then change it to "workpermit " ??

Or Is it safe to wait until my husband's original work permit extension is received and then apply ?

Currently, the application processing times for work permit extensions are nearly 120 days (my husband's employer is going to file the appln by POST) and this makes me very unsecure now.

Any suggestions please ?

Include you OWP application with your spouses work permit extension request.

Yes I knew that is the ideal way of doing it !!

But his wp is processed by the employer and his employer will not allow my application(owp) to be included

His employer suports extension for visitor visa alone for the spouse.

Is this a matter of money? Pay for it yourself.

No :( It is their company policies to sponsor only visitor visa for the spouse :(
But they don't get to make Canadian Immigration policy. You don't NEED their support. All you need to do is include your OWP application with your spouse's. They are not doing anything for you other than including the application in the same envelope. Maybe they don't understand that.
