I am looking to get health insurance for a OWP but I am already in Canada.

Is there any I can get while I am in Canada, for me while I'm on a OWP?

Yes, you can get a private medical emergency insurance policy despite the fact that you are already here. Just note that there is an applicable waiting period of 48-hours to 8 days (depending on the insurance plan you choose and how many days you've been in Canada for since the date of your most recent entry).

Waiting period will immediately follow the coverage start date aka Effective Date. You will not be able to use your policy during the waiting period, but there are some exceptions i.e. insurers like Allianz Global Assistance will still cover physical injury treatment during the 48-hour waiting period. Sickness-related emergencies are, generally, never covered during the waiting period.
