I overstayed my tourist visa for a year in US because of my dying 100 years old grandma, i am the one whose's taking care of her. it's been 5 months since i
go home to my home country voluntarily with no removal or deportation order. I have no criminal record.

I have existing valid multiple entry tourist visa to canada. I want to visit my girlfriend (soon to be wife) in canada becuase its been two years that were not together.
All i want is to be with my girlfriend on my birthday or at least for 3 months.

My question is, it will affect my entry to canada as tourist? because of my overstay in the US.

thank you

Your US overstay should not impact your entry into Canada on your existing tourist visa. Make sure you have a return ticket when you arrive in Canada.

However don't try entering the US. While you were not removed or deported, you now have an automatic ban from entering the US due to your overstay. If you overstayed by a year or more - you have an automatic 10 year ban. If you overstayed by less than a year - you have a three year ban. Don't try reentering the US until this ban period has passed.

Damn, the crazy things some people do. It makes it so much harder for the rest of us who follow all the laws.
