I overstayed my pgwp by 3 months (left within the 90days limit) due to confusion regarding the Bowp. My lawyer advised me to apply for it to avail the implied status but I left the country as soon as I realized that was not the case. I'm now applying for a study permit for a post graduate diploma and worried that it might get rejected due to this.

I have spent the past seven years in Toronto and I'm writing a letter of explanation to highlight the fact that I left within the restoration period and I am not in any prior violation of condition of stay. Is this sufficient? Should I be preparing for the worst?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Yes. As I was under the impression I had implied status, I worked till I realized I shouldn't be. I was working with the permission of my employer ( university of Toronto)

You should leave the "not in any prior violation of conditions of stay" out of your letter since this is technically incorrect if you continued working past the expiry of your PGWP.

Hopefully you're aware that you won't qualify for a second PGWP once your additional studies are completed in Canada.

^^^^^^ Exactly what I was going to say.
You will not ba eligible for a second PGWP which makes me question your motive . If you're intention is to apply for PR , You might as well could apply from your home country. If you're also a graduate from UofT , I don't think it should be that hard to find a job in your field. I personally would not take the risk to study again. You could maybe ask UofT to pull some strings on your PR or closed permit application .

I am aware that I won't receive another PGWP. I'm going back to school for career related reasons and not only for PR. I have a BA hons from York University and I want to work towards a post graduate certificate in my field.

I'm planning to include my BOWP application in my letter of explanation so the VO can also take a look at it.

Thoughts?

Sounds fine. But again, don't say "not in any prior violation of conditions of stay" in your letter.

Thank you Scylla. Yes, I will make sure to not include that statement.

Do you think this would be sufficient information for the VO? Anything else I should include to ensure my permit is approved?

That makes sense. if you've already procured a BA from a Canadian university. I'm sure you'll have sufficient points for EE considering that you might be worked during your PGWP tenure.I'd rather pay tuition being a PR than ad an international student.

With respect to your question , Just explain the reason behind your overstay . On tbe other hand , I don't think the concept of BOWP still exists. I think it was removed once EE came into action .
