Overstayed 8 years ago in Australia on student visa,I overstayed year and half, have no criminal records there. I worked as trucker in india till now. Work is not so good here now I want to apply for canada work permit in trucking.
Any chance or approval for me?

Yes , as long as you're fully honest about it , i would you rather apply for PR than work permit for better chances of being accepted .

But I'm just looking for work.
My wife and child are happy here.
They want to stay in india.they are no good in english also.it will be a problem.
Can't i just apply for work visa.

You cannot just apply for a work permit as you would need an employer to apply for an LMIA with a job offer and the employer would need to show no resident was available.

Employers are generally not willing to go through the LMIA process so it is almost impossible to get a job offer from outside of Canada unless someone has unique skills, unlikely would think for a truck driver job but nothing to stop you looking/trying.

I can apply for open work permit. It is one of the options in www.cic.gc.ca
Way do I need lmia then.

You need a job offer and approved LMIA to apply for a work permit. Being in Canada on a visitor visa / TRV does not entitle you to apply for a work permit.

Only people who are in Canada on a TRP qualify for a work permit. If you are here as a visitor, you will be here on a TRV - not a TRP. You will not qualify for an open work permit. Again, you need a job offer and approved LMIA.
