Hi there, I am a US citizen who has overstayed my study permit by 4.5 months. Due to a series of unfortunate events, I did not renew my study permit before it expired. I am now about to return home to the US in a couple of days. I have not been issued a departure order.
I will be finishing up my last term in university in January. I do wish to return to Canada and try to reapply for a new study permit at a port of entry. However, I am not sure if I will be allowed back in the country. Would it be better to reapply for a study permit online or try to do it at a port of entry if possible? Would I even be allowed back into Canada because of my overstay?
Thank you for listening and your help.
