Hi folks, sorry if this has been asked before but my husband applied for an updated Citizenship certificate in February 2020 due to legal name change. We knew it would take a few months and we figured it was fine. Until he learned he needs it up to update his SIN, our mortgage agreement and land title, etc. We requested urgent processing and they ignored us.
He didn't even get an AOR until late November! (While beyond the "5 months" they have posted on their site).
In the two times we requested the urgent processing they told us "Rest assured the processing of your application is normal". It wasn't until September that they started using COVID as an excuse.
Now, 13 months later all it shows it application received. This is BEYOND annoying, and even with COVID there is zero excuse to take this long to print out a certificate particularly since they refuse to even give us any information. In the same time, we know a temp student who got his visa processed in just three months.
We have asked our MP twice, and both times IRCC sent to her: "Tell your constituent, that we are only processing urgent matters at this time". (Despite them telling us it was processing normally).
Anyone actually receive a citizenship certificate recently? Any additional options you recommend? It blew my mind that the CRA (who usually is the worst agency) actually were willing to work with us regarding his name change but IRCC just doesn't care.
