My wife and I will be moving to canada soon and want to file outland before we leave, we have been looking at the medical requirements and the cost is half when getting it done in canada as aposed to USA. Does anyone know if i can file the application from the usa and then have the medical done in canada after we arrive? When would they request the med after we file, and would this put a major delay on my application?

I would honestly apply after you're in Canada, do the medical in Canada and send it all in. With the US, they have a habit of sending the entire thing back if the medical is not in it so it would be a good idea to include it instead of having to pay for it to be sent twice.

Should we cross without saying anything and let my wife come up as a tourist or tell them at the border and show them the completed application and all the paper work, crossing with duel intent.

Bring everything, have it all ready but don't offer up anything unless they ask. Some borders are okay with it, some aren't.

I have heard several times that you need to file your entire application (including all forms like Medical) at the same time. You could have delays, or rejection, if you wait for medical.

I asked a similar question last month and that was the response I got here. It also says this on the bottom of the document checklist.

Yes, you can apply outland and go to a DMP within Canada. I would STRONGLY recommend, as others have, to include EVERYTHING necessary when you first send in the application. This includes the PCC and paying the ROPR fee. We did not include these two items and received a letter in December requesting the necessary documentation. Sent it off within days of letter and it is now July with no word. Please don't do what I did :D Of course, I did not find this forum until AFTER applying! :( All the best to you!
