Hello all..Need some help here..
My wife, my daughter and I moved to Canada but we all are in different categories: I'm a PR, My wife is here on Visitor visa and my daughter is US Citizen.
After going through these forums a lot, I have got to know that I can file outland application for my wife and my daughter even though they are in Canada right now. My wife is from India so her application will be processed in New Delhi.

1. I have a question that even though my wife would not be asked for interview, once her application is approved, how will she get her passport stamped ? Will she have to send her passports to India? that will make her status illegal here in Canada right (No documentation)?
2. Might be a dumb question..Can she get her immigrant visa stamped here in Canada?
3. If she happens to go to India for visa stamping, How much time does it takes for stamping?

Guys, I would really appreciate if you can let me know your comments as I'm planning to file her application this week..

Thanks in advance

I was told on this forum about "flagpoling" as I had the similar question. That means going to the US/Canada border and telling them that you want to "flag pole" and then coming back into Canada. Here's the thread that may be able to help you.

I think the OP is asking about how they will issue the visa, not how they will land.

You'll have to mail the passport back to India for them to issue the visa. They mail it back to you in Canada.

...then you do the "flagpole" procedure to the USA border or phone CIC for a landing interview at the local office.

Yes, I understand that matthewc. That is all explained in my link/thread that I included in my post. I had the same question about "issuing" the visa and was wondering if I could mail it to the London, UK from Canada. One of the options that people were proposing is that my husband mails his passport to London, they stamp it, then they mail it to his address in the UK which will be picked up by a family member keeping an eye on his post. Then they could send it to our address in Canada. Afterwards, we would have to flagpole. Sorry, I should have made this clearer.

Normally you would mail the passport to the visa office, they put the visa in it and then mail it back but I think I have heard something about India having a law against mailing passports outside the country so that could be a problem.

She might be able to mail or courier it to a family member in India, they take it to the visa office, take it back from the visa office and mail it to her. I would not say that she is illegal in Canada without documentation. She is legal, just can't prove it. She should make photocopies of the passport and visit visa before she sends the passport away so she can show that if somebody asks.

The only way she can get the visa stamped in Canada is if you applied inland.

I do not know how long it takes to get the visa stamped if she goes to India.
