Outland Sponsorship Question

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping that maybe one of you can help me out (I'm a bit of a newbie with all of this)?

My fiance and I applied for Sponsorship (me - Canada) and Permanent Residency (him - New Zealand).

So far we know this:

Sponsorship Application:
- We received your application to sponsor on April 17, 2014.
- We started processing your application on June 19, 2014.

Permanent Residence:
- We received application for permanent residence on April 17, 2014.
- Medical results have been received.

Now, my question is regarding why there is yet to be a decision made on my SA? My fiance did receive an email asking for more information (they wanted a police check done for when he lived in London a few years ago), is this why?

I guess I assumed that we would be informed of the decision made on my sponsorship either way. I'm just worried that it's taking a long time (many people who applied later than us have already received word), and would like some reassurance that it is being delayed due to their request for more information for HIS part of the application and not because I should be expecting bad news.

Will my approval as a sponsor be delayed until they receive the further information they requested for his PR application, or will the sponsorship application be processed as normal (with the delays being on his application)?

if there was a decision made on your sponsorship application, there would be a line that says something like: "a decision was made on xx/xx/xx". I'm guessing the information you posted was from your ECAS? Normally, people who haven't gotten AOR or SA are not able to check the online system, so you may be getting a bit ahead of yourself by checking your status online. The current trend is notification to be sent by email. There are also a few people who get letters mailed, so there's no telling for sure how your notification will come. The only definite is it will be sent to the sponsor.

IT's really hard for anyone to tell you why you are still waiting for SA. I know that CIC does wait for both applications to be complete before issuing a decision on SA, so if a required form was missing from the applicant's package, they will not issue a decision until the package is considered complete. Some files get processed when the new information is sent in, some are held until the "bring forward date" that was specified in the letter requesting the information. For example, if the request document sent gave you 30 days to get the paperwork in, your file *may* be set aside until this date to finish processing. Noone can say for sure. When we had a missing document, we only had to wait an additional 2 weeks for SA, and luckily did not have to wait until the bring forward date. Some people who applied when we did are still waiting because of that date.

Technically, you can still be within the waiting time for SA. The only way to know for sure if a decision was made is to call the CIC call center and ask. It could very well be because of that missing information. Or it can be because that's how the timeline is currently working. IT seems pretty normal right now for there to be 2 weeks between AOR and SA.

You got further than i did . I got We have not processed your application due to it not being complete. I sent our application the 10th of June. What i don't understand at all with Cic is they are not consistence with the applications. Some they return the whole package , some just ask for more info , other get AOR.. Don't make sense ..

my theory is it is based on the person who is actually handling the application package. i imagine there are quite a few people who process the applications. some may be newer, some may be older, some set in their ways, others willing to join the technology age, some may just think sending an email is easier than mailing the whole package back, some may think the opposite. just like in every job, everyone has their own way of doing things. there is absolutely no way we will ever know why and how things are done unless we were a fly on the wall!

Hi all,

Still nothing.

Finally received the police check from London, and am mailing off the missing documents tonight. That means they will be there by tomorrow.

Of course my worry now, is how long it seems to take for them to acknowledge receiving anything!

Originally we sent our application, and they received it on April 17, 2014. They didn't start processing it, however, until June 19th. They need these missing forms by August 18, 2014... so here's hoping that whoever signs for this package gets it to where it needs to be right away!
