Hi everyone!

Incredible resource and am grateful this is available as I take the well trodden path to residency!

Bit about me, I'm a British citizen - 27 - and have been in Canada for over 2 years living with my Canadian girlfriend - 25 - for the entire period. I originally came to Canada on an IEC and was lucky to meet my girlfriend in the first month and have been living together ever since. We have been on multiple trips together and have no dependants. Right now I'm a visitor (being visa exempt) until July, we're planning to leave Canada June 20th to travel for a few months.

We're applying outland due to the reduced processing time and we want to be able to continue to travel.

My initial question is, if we leave and want to return to Canada before my permanent residency is granted - what are the chances of having trouble at the POE with me trying to get back in? Is there anything we can do to help this?

We have an established history of being given conditions (visitor record having previously requested to extend my stay in between IEC work permits) and adhering to them.

I'm sure I'll have more questions but just a quick one for now.

Hard to say because it can just depend on what officer you get and what mood they're in. But if you have a application in process its seems to help. I would have a return ticket to Britain, hard for you you to provide any ties that they usually want such as a job/lease agreement etc as you haven't lived there for some time.

Have proof that your application is in process, as noted above. Americans are routinely let in with this proof; presumably other nationalities who do not need a visa to enter Canada are treated the same. Be clear you are just visiting and will leave if the PR visa is not granted. A return ticket is also a good idea.
