My husband applied for outland spousal sponsorship from the USA. He received a PPR email today which asked him to send a photocopy of his passport along with a few photos. There is also a form (ANNEX A) which asks for a Canadian or US mailing address to send his COPR to.
He is currently visiting me in Canada and planned to stay with me until he received COPR - however we still need to import all of his goods, meaning we have to return to the USA and bring the items and his car over the border.
We are confused if we can give my Canadian mailing address for COPR and still be allowed to do a duty-free "first landing" when he drives his car over the border later with a Goods to Accompany list, or if we choose to do my Canadian mailing address will he be asked to do a "virtual landing" here instead? If so, can we still do a "Goods to Follow" list somehow for when he brings his belongings to Canada? Our main concern is being able to bring all of his belongings over duty free when the time comes.
It seems like it would just be a lot easier and quicker to use a Canadian mailing address while he is here visiting anyway than to have to prepay for and send a return Fedex envelope from Ottawa to the US for them to send his COPR in.
