Outland application to sponsor husband, but i don't have photo card

Hi,

I am an English citizen with Candian citizenship. I want to sponsor my husband, who is English, so we can move to Canada as soon as possible. However I need to clear up a few things I'm not too sure on:

1: I do not have a photo card or the original citizenship certificate as I have applied for the card when we were visting family in May this year, although I do have a copy of the certificate with a serial number on it, will this do?

2: When we got married it was a very small affair, it was just us and 2 close friends as witnessess. This was because I could not have all my family there due to famaily arguments and did not want the stress of bickering on my wedding day. Is it better to tell the truth about this when they ask about who attended the wedding? Will this be a negative factor in our application, but I do have wedding photos to include and we have not yet had a reception as we wanted to have a leaving party along with the reception.

The serial number is what you need so anything you have with that on it should be fine,about your proof all you can do is add what you have,if you dont have it you cant add it so send what you have,its them that will decide if you have enough,but the less you prove your relationship the better your chances are you will be interviewed to prove it.
Lots have had a small civil wedding and have got approved.A wedding is only a small part of proving your relationship,they want to see prooof of your before and after more than the actual day.

What is the average processing time for applications? we read on the web site that 30% of cases are answered in 2 months, but if it takes longer and we are ready to go before we get our answer, would we be able to go and wait for the response in Canada? Provding I am approved as sponsor, I have never lived in Canada and will be staying with my family, do we apply for a VISA before we go or do we declare this at customs?

erm another thing,,,,,when we look through the application there are lots of questions that don't apply to us like children and other family members, do we leave these blank or put 'n/a' so they have something written on them so they don't look like they've been missed out? Sounds like I've jst answered my own question there....

Never leave something blank write N/A or not applicable Blanks can cause delays in processes or worse.

Always tell the truth on the application. The visa officer ordinarily won't just take your word for anything, so if you say there were 50 people at your wedding, you had better have photographic proof of that number.
Having a small wedding is perfectly OK - the only time I have ever seen it questioned is for arranged marriages in India, which had better be as traditional as possible.
Explain why the wedding was small, and include proof of your future reception.

If your spouse is a British citizen, he can enter Canada as a visitor without a visa. Usually there is no problem getting in, though he shouldn't say he is moving to Canada right then. He should say he is visiting, and if they ask he can mention that he has a PR application in. The PR application will probably take longer than 2 months to be finalized. Keep in mind that if they want to interview him, the interview will be in London and he will have to go back for it.

What VISA would he need to be able to work in Canada and where do we apply for it, while he is waiting for his PR?

Hi fenna1,
Your spouse will not be able to work or attend school while his outland PR visa is processing as he will only have "visitor" status in Canada. He might be able to apply for a work permit through skilled worker or some other category, but he will most likely get his PR visa approved long before he gets approved for a work visa. As soon as he lands with his PR visa he is legally able to look for and start working.
