Outland APP from S. korea and Spouse coming before residency

I am looking for people that have actually had their spouses come to Canada before being granted residency. My wife would like to join me in finding a house and would intend to stay for the 6 months allotted. My question is what happens when we actually get the residency. Will a quick drive to the border and back be sufficient? Depending on the backlogs due to the strikes, I dont think it will take much longer for her to get status. I would like to hear from people that have personally done this. Thanks.

We applied common-law outland app through S.Korea. We lived already in Canada when the COPR was granted. They mailed it to our home here, and we just did a quick flagpole landing at Niagara Falls to officially "land" and get PR status.
