out of Canada my PR will expire

hello All

please help me to know....My friend and her family have their PR cards, and it will expire next October 2016 and they are outside Canada.since they obtained their PR cared they only visited Canada 3 times total of 3 months only in the last five years,So what are their chances to renew their PR cards and dont lose the residency statues at Canada????

Chances are when they try to renew their PR cards the fact they have not met any residency requirement will be noted and likely PR status will be under threat and revoked. The only real choice is to return to Canada before the PR cards expire, stay for 2 years without leaving to reset the residency.Even then it is possible on entering Canada that failure to meet RO will be reported and PR status will be under threat of being cancelled.

The rules are in place exactly to avoid this scenario to ensure people establish residency and are relatively generous allowing upto a 3 year period out of the country in a 5 year period, but just 3 months in 5 years then as said likely PR status will be under threat of being revoked.
