OSAP as government financial assistance?HELP!

Hi everyone!

I'm new here in Canada, I just arrived here last Feb2012 and I'm planning to go back in the Philippines next year to marry my long term boyfriend and file sponsorship once I come back here. But I'm currently having my OSAP(student loan) and payable 6 months after my graduation this coming December, is OSAP considered as a government financial assistance?... Hope someone will answer this cause I'm so confuse and worried that it will affect my sponsorship in the future. Thank you so much!

It is government financial assistance BUT for the purposes of sponsorship it does not make you ineligible. The kind that makes you ineligible is social assistance in the form of welfare, such as Ontario Works.

I'm on OSAP and was approved to sponsor my husband. I submitted a copy of how much I was going to get with my application and they didn't ask anything.
