Hi everyone,

This is a frequently asked question on these forums, and I finally have the answer.

I spoke to someone at CRA who claimed that "the Option C Printout is just a code for them and it produces a copy of the Notice of Assessment." This is WRONG. You will often get misleading information from the CRA Call Centre.

They also claim you can get an Option C Printout online, but I've never been able to find it.

Here is what I did ...

I couldn't get through on the toll-free number (1-800-959-8281) so I called the other number ( 1-613-940-8495 ) outside of business hours (M-F 9-5 EST) to get to the 24 hour service
- Press 3 to get the section for printouts (remittance voucher or income and deductions printout)
- Press 2 to get to the Option C income and deductions printout section
- Follow the prompts to enter your SIN / Date of Birth / Amount reported (not amount assessed) on line 150 for the previous year

Eventually it will tell you that it will mail it to you in X days.

Sometimes I had to press hard or numerous times for it to go through. I had to repeat the process a couple of times because it wasn't recognizing the buttons I was pushing, but eventually it worked.

Good luck!

I just answered this question for somebody else, but maybe I can be more specific:

Here is the link for the CRA "My Account" page: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/esrvc-srvce/tx/ndvdls/myccnt/menu-eng.html

If you don't have an account, you may still be able to set one up as long as you can answer certain questions about your prior tax returns and notices of assessment,
When you log in you will see a "Canada Revenue Agency" page with tabs across the top and quick links down the left side. The first page shows your most recent information - mine shows my most recent Notice of Assessment. Do not open that. Follow these instructions:

1. Go to the second tab called "Tax Returns"
2. Click on the top link entitled: "View Returns and Notice of Assessments ...."
3. The first column shows the Year; the second the Status. On the Status column, click the most recent "Assessed" You will see your detailed tax return with all the line numbers. This is your "option C".
4. On the top right there is a link for "printer -friendly version". Click the link. On the top right again is a link for "Print"

I have the ability to print to Adobe PDF but not everyone will have this. If you do, you have a nice red and black document with your "option C"

Good luck!

thanks for the idea,

I used the automated phone service as well. But it didn't tell me when they will ship the option C prints.
I also have the online print outs, but not sure if CIC would accept them.

This is an old thread. The checklist no longer requires the option C, it now requires the Notice of Assessment that you can get on your CRA online account.

CIC sent me an email mentioning that they need to reassess my sponsorship eligibility.
They asked for the following documents:
Form IMM1283
Option C print for 2013/2014
T1 General + T4/t5
Paystubs
Letter of employment

Statement of Business Activities
Other income

The CIC can always ask for additional documents. If they're asking for more than even that it means they want more information on your income for some reason. The change from an Option C to NOA was recent as well. Most people will not have to submit more than a NOA (or Option C, for applicants from before the change) and a letter of employment.

On the latest document checklist it states that the most common reason for problems are not including the option c. Where does it say the notice of assessment is the same as the option c?

Thanks. We will send them all the requested documents.
