Opinion/Advice on my plan for PR...

Hi,

I would like some opinions and advice on my plans to get PR in Cananda.

Background, UK Citizen, 26 years old, no criminal record completely eligible to come to Canada. I am 1 measly point shy to apply as a federal skilled worker as I only got 66 points where I need 67 (Due to WES only crediting my 2 year college diploma as one year canadian ). I would like to go the route of CEC/Federal skilled worker by gaining 1 years work experience in a NOC level B job whilst on my 2 year IEC.

My situation is I currently have hold a IT job in the UK as a remote worker (currently working remotely in Toronto) and whilst on my 2 year IEC visa I want to work for a Canadian company to gain the hours required to apply for CEC/FSW whilst keeping my UK job, is there any issues with this?

So for example I work 3am-11:30am for UK IT job then from 12:30am - 7:30PM I work for Canadian based job. Just wondering if there are any legal/tax issues with this?

Thanks for any replies

Your post is rather confusing.

What exactly is your question? Income tax issues? Or How to gain/validate CEC experience?

Income tax: if you are (tax) resident in Canada, you need to do a tax return to CRA. And declare your UK-sourced income. If you are being taxed on that income in the UK, you declare that & work through the exemptions/deductions allowed on your CRA return.

CEC: yes you can work more than one job/overlap. But you will need that 1 year continuous experience in same A, 0, or B NOC to be eligible.

TL:DR I might have totally misunderstood your post.

Hey Lammawitch

Thanks for your response, you understood me perfectly and it was both Tax and CEC requirements i was questioning about. So in regards to the tax do you know what the exemptions/deductions allowed would be by any chance? (guess you probably wouldn't and I would need to talk to an accountant)

I would be getting taxed for my canadian job in canada and taxed for my UK job in the UK.

Seems all legit so I should be okay to roll with that, just wanted to get some peoples thoughts.

Download Studiotax*, and play around with it.

*no, I'm not affiliated with this in anyway, just use it, & have had no problems with declaring CA income tax with UK liabilities etc.

CRA are also very good at advising on the subject.
