Here is our case: I am Brazilian and my husband is a Canadian citizen,we met while we both was in the US in 2005, he came over to Brazil to meet my family may 2007 and in january 2008 i aplied for the visitors visa to meet his, they said the visa to go to the US was alot harder to get than the canadian although i had it, my canadian visa was denied, even though i met all requirements, i received a letter saying they didnt think i was coming back after the períod, they also stamped my passport with the record number of the case. So he came over (Set 08) and we got married, he took all the forms back with him and sent then to the office in Vegreville in Oct, last december he got a letter asking for his bank statments, wich he mailed right away, and we haven't heard from the office ever since, we tried contacting, they can't give to us any information thru the phone, the number on the letter doesn't show anything on the ecas...i tried emailing asking if at least they received the last documents and no luck, any idea?

I'm confused - because unless you're in Canada (as the applicant for permanent residence) the application should not have gone to Vegreville. Could you verify whether you're in Brazil or in Canada, and whether he sent the application to Vegreville or Mississauga?

Sorry, Yes I am in Brazil at the moment, and he sent the process to Vegreville's office, not Mississauga. He is in Edmonton.. why he sent there ? That I have no clue.

1. Because he didn't read the instructions.
2. The sponsorship and your application should have gone to Mississauga, he better send a fax letter to Vegreville to try and recover the application, as it probably hasn't even been opened yet.

You dont have to be worried, the visa officers are very expert they can read psychological effects of mind, obviously when a man inviting a woman there are 50% chances they can get married and ultimatily he can file inland sponsorship that is why you were refused to get Canadian visa, yes american visa is harder than Canadian but this was the reason why you were refused.

but now you are married to him you don't have to be worried process is time taking but you will get your visa sooner and be with your husband sooner inshallah.

Candypam, now that you are married, you could apply again for a visitor visa at the Consulate in São Paulo. Three friends of mine who had their visa denied, tried again after getting married and the visa was approved. Mine was approved as well, but I've never had one denied. :)

He should have sent the application to CPC-Mississauga, since you are in Brazil right now. And it would be much faster too - most people who applied in October '08 just had their process outside (in São Paulo) finished.. I think the best would be withdraw the process inside and apply outside, however, I'm not sure of it, if it would be possible to do. Right now I can't remember anyone who did that.

By the way, I think it is funny when I hear that the american visa is harder than the canadian. In Brasília they only asked for my fingerprints and that was all, no questions, it took about 30 seconds and the lady said I should pay the "Sedex" and my passport would be delivered at home within 3 business days (time to issue the visa, mail, and the passport to arrive at my place). And for the canadian visa I had to wait a looong time, the list of documents sent was much bigger too.

Boa sorte! :)

Extremely unlikely, if they refuse you as a PR, they sure aren't going to give you a TRV to visit Canada.
