Opening a GIC account in Canada

Hi ladies and gentlemen ..
In May 2021, I applied for my visa and got rejected. one of the reasons was the recent fund and lack of documents. This month again I need to reapply. so, to be more transparent, I need to open a GIC(Guaranteed Investment certificate) account. As I'm from Sri Lanka, I got to know that Sri Lankan cannot open a GIC account. Is this true? ( I'm applying through Non- the SDS category) .TIA

Srilanka is not on the list of countries that are listed under the SDS stream however that shouldn't stop you from obtaining a GIC certificate. The banks will still be able to process your deposit.
