good question, that is an online school, but there is a requirement to physically go in to write the final exams I believe, so that is the complication, I am unsure

I think completely online schools are ok (again confirm anything with CIC if it matters to you), but if you have to actually go in to a "brick and mortar" school that changes things

Are you on PGWP or just OWP?
I am not sure if this concerns any foreign worker in Canada or only those on PGWP?

if a foreign national authorized to work in Canada is prohibited from engaging in studies as per a condition of their work permit, they are allowed to engage in distance learning courses.http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/students/consider.asp

Why would not you call CIC?

thanks for that Regina, I knew I read it before but I forgot where

the definition of "distance learning" becomes the factor then, does it still count as "distance learning" if you have to go in to an invigilation centre to write the final exam?

Interesting question. Some courses have online exams but some - you have to go to some sort institution , local college , for example. And THIS raises a question about
However, some distance learning courses include an in-Canada portion to the program (e.g., special tutorials or the writing of final exams). If the overall course of study is greater than six months, then the student requires a study permit for the in-Canada portion of the program, even if the in-Canada portion is less than six months
So how you are supposed to get a ONE DAY SP? And it will stop your PGWP, for instance. Also, some courses have final exams at "a college" but they are shorter than 6 months. or they take you only a couple of months even if a year is allowed for it. My guess is this
the student requires a study permit for the in-Canada portion of the program
applies only to out land students of the distance education (online courses), but I think I better call CIC tomorrow.
