Good day,
I am looking for information regarding the potential to bridge gap of my current 2 year open work permit to the decision on my Permanent Residency application. My current visa ends on 26th of February 2020. I really need to resolve this and move forward. I have also had a child with my Canadian partner in this timeframe, does that make any other options possible?

Thanks for reading!

Have you applied for PR via the inland or outland route? If you have applied inland, then you qualify for an open work permit based on the spousal sponsorship application.

No - having a child does not make any other options available.

I/we applied for the PR whilst i was here in Canada. It was filed back in July 2019. I am currently on an open work permit but it expires on 26th of February 2020. So to clarify, I need to try and find a way to extend this permit to allow me to work until I hear back about my PR.

What kind of open work permit do you hold? IEC? PGWP? You most likely cannot extend the work permit you are on now.

However since you applied inland, you qualify to apply for a new open work permit. So you would apply for a new open work permit.

Again, this is assuming you applied for PR through the inland application process. You can use either the inland or outland application process to apply while in Canada. So you will need to confirm that you applied via inland.

I believe that my current open work permit falls under working holiday visa. And yes I applied inland for my PR.
Then you would apply for a new open work permit based on your inland spousal sponsorship application. You cannot extend a working holiday visa.
