open work permit, separated, do i need renew my permit

Anyone please help!

My husband and i came to Canada in 2011 with separate work permits. My initial contract and permit ended in Nov.2013. I was unemployed and extended my permit as open work permit (OWP) which is valid until Oct. 2014. I started a new job this March with my OWP. Recently my husband moved out and we are separated. My question is: Do i need renew my work permit ?

You don't really say but I'm assuming you obtained your current OWP as a dependent of your husband.

Your permit is valid until Oct 2014, so you can continue to work until then. If you wish to work beyond that, you will need to obtain a new work permit.

Yes, my current permit was obtained as a dependent of my husband and I will continue to work after Oct. The thing is I am not sure if this permit is still valid when we are separated.

The permit is valid until it expires.
