Open work permit restrictions - self employed?

Hi everyone,

This might sound like a simple title, but I've been doing research for the last few hours and I am yet to find a concrete answer.

I am currently in the country on an extended open work permit from the UK. My husband has done spousal sponsorship (he is Canadian) and that has been processing since January last year, so fingers crossed we hear something this year!

I am currently looking at answering ads for dog walkers in my local area. My husband and I just moved province, so I am looking to meet people with the potential to starting my own business in the future. For now I was just thinking it would be a good job so I could learn the area.

After searching around, the only concrete evidence I have is the information regarding entering the country as self-employed status, or being self-employed when you have come over on a LMIA or similar. I have read about having to register a business and the max someone can own a business who is not PR can own is 50%, etc, etc. Does dog walking count as opening your own business? My husband is 100% on board with doing this if need be. But I'm not sure if it qualifies as opening your own business?

I cannot find anything that stipulates what my Open Work Permit regulations are.

If anyone could shed some light, I would really appreciate it. Being new to the area, I am looking to have a job that can bring in a little income while I search for a more permanent position.
