Open Work Permit Procedure

Hi,

I want to know the procedure to get the "Open Work Permit" for my spouse.

I came to know from some sources that I can apply for the open work permit for my spouse while applying for my work permit? If this is true, how should I indicate on application form that I need the "open work permit" for my spouse?

If the owp for my spouse can not be obtained along with the work permit for me, then what is the procedure for getting the same afterwards?

I have a question - Its been 12 months (Dec 2014) since my husband had applied for inland spousal sponsorship. No 'Approval in principle' letter as yet just AOR letter . I have applied now for an open work permit and they received it one week before my visitor extension expires . Is that good enough ? or they needed me to have valid status throughout before they grant me the OWP ?
