open work permit Help!

Hello,

I got laid off due to decrease in work from my previous employment. I have a closed work permit with my previous employer. My PR application is ECAS is Application received, applied at new delhi office (got AOR on July 23) under Alberta immigration provincial nominee programme. i spoke to immigration canada about Bridiging open work permit on phone and they were saying i can only apply within 4 months of my expiry of current work permit which i have like nine months. As i understand some ppl are applying or applied much before their 4 months before expiry and getting their work permit. Can any one help me or advice how to go about? I am totally stuck and doesn't have clue Any sort of quick help shall be appreciated.

Hi bro,

your work permit should be with in 4 months before it expires. When is your current work permit expires? Since you got laid-off, aren't you qualified to apply for EI? at least you'll be receiving something which is better than nothing while looking for a job with LMO or while waiting when you qualify for the BOWP.

You Can apply for BOWP by explaining your situation. and attach your separation eMail to the BOWP application. If you are not confident, go to lawyer they can help you.

Thanks! for the replies my wp expires in august 2014... i applied for EI but i dont want to sit ideally n get EI benefits... Can you suggest any gud desi immigration lawyer? if your in calgary...
