Open Work Permit Help!! Very Confused:(

I have a question, on how exactly does one obtain an open work permit? im not concerned with the fees that come with this to obtain one, and I also have a few connections within canada, who will hire me if I obtain a work permit of some sort, But ONLY if i have a work permit, so leaves me thinking am I eligible to apply for an Open Work Permit??

I have graduated in B.Sc. Civil Engineering, and Im a British Citizen who is currently in Canada as a visitor, Im trying to find out all possible ways of obtaining PR within Canada, Which is seeming very difficult and Lawyers just want to take my money....

Please can someone Help....

It is more difficult to get an open work permit all the time. However, if you get "arranged employment", i.e. a job offer that will qualify you for the Skilled Worker or Skilled Trades program, you could use that offer to apply for a work permit and immigration at the same time. So if you know people who want to hire you, their offer will be necessary to proceed. cic.gc.ca/english/hire/offers dot asp

Does this mean Im able to apply to for an Open Work Permit?

No - absolutely not. You don't have a TRP and consequently don't qualify for an open work permit.

You are confusing TRVs with TRPs. They are two completely separate entities.

Temporary resident permit
A permit that may be granted in exceptional circumstances to a person who does not meet the requirements of Canada's immigration law to enter or remain temporarily in Canada.

Honestly, I have never heard nor have come across someone who made an outright initial application for an open work permit without being under one of the conditions in here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=177&t=17

As said above, you do not have a TRP and do not qualify for an OWP.

If a Canadian employer wants to hire you, they first need to apply for an LMIA; this takes several months, costs the employer $1000 and has strict requirements. If the LMIA is approved, you could then apply for a closed work permit. It is very difficult these days to find such an employer.

You could also check out the IEC program for a working holiday visa, though I'm not sure if they are even opening a 3rd round this year. Note that it is EXTREMELY competitive and 2500 spots in the last round went in 2 minutes.

Yes i was checking the IEC for a long time and the first round quota finished it 2 minutes and left me gobsmacked ....

Studying can work. If you take a 2 or more year course, you can apply for a 3 year Post Grad Work Permit. If you can gain a year of skilled work experience in that time, you could apply for PR. Note that in order to get a study permit, you would need to show significant proof of funds, to cover international tuition and all.of 6 our living expenses.

Would taking a course under 2 years not work? Because I was told by a lawyer to take a 1 year course... then i would get a work permit for the same duration of the course, then i should be able to appy for PR.

That makes a lot of sense actually, So what your saying is that 1 FULL year of work experience is required... Anything under will not work?

Thanks for this and my last question is, if my uncle owns his own pizza store and is successful, is there a method whereby I can come here and become the manager of his store? and work like that or will that not work? It may be stupid as the business is food, however If maybe coming as managerial position may help? or maybe starting up a new business inside canada?

France, on the other hand, took 2 and 1 minutes for each round, respectively.
