Dear All,

Hello I am currently on student visa here in Montreal. I will be done with my MBA in May 2016. As of now I have 2 jobs wherein I earn around CAD 1500 p.m. Also I sometimes do other works so that's 300 extra p.m. I have an education loan to cover my tuition fee with some unused amount left over for my other expenses.

Now I plan to apply for Open Work permit for my Wife who is currently employed In India. I have 2 kids aged 4 and 1 respectively. Could anyone tell me me how to go about applying for open work permit?
1. What are the documents I need?
2. Whether my wife has to resign before she applies for the visa or she can do it after she receives it?
3. Whether my elder daughter needs to apply for study permit?
4. What visa is applicable for my kids? Visitor visa?
5. How much funds should I show for the visa process?
6. What documents do I need to show as income?payslips?letter from college?

Any or all information I might have missed is welcome. I intend to apply online as its easy. Which is the link for it?

Please tell me what I should do and how?

Hello All,

I request the members to please help me out. I am going to India soon to visit my family and hence if I have information then I will be able to complete formalities if any as soon as I reach India.

Thanks.

1. In addition to the open work permit application, your wife should include evidence that show she has strong ties to her home country and plans to return there after the OWP has been completed.
2. No - she should not resign before she applies for the visa. There is no guarantee the visa will be approved.
3. No - no study permit is required.
4. Yes - visitor visas
5. If possible - I would try to show additional funds (apart from your loan and pay) since you are trying to bring 3 family members to Canada and CIC may be concerned you don't have the funds to support them. Ideally it would be good to be able to show an additional $10K.
6. Payslips, loan, and bank account balances for any additional funds you can show.

Thank you so much for your reply. If I could ask more then,

1. How can my wife show the ties to India? What do i need to do extra?
2. I read in the forum elsewhere that i need to show marriage certificate etc? Is it correct?

Hello All,

I have few more questions:

1. Since my wife is employed, an it is tough for her to get NOC for applying VISA, what is the best way out for her? I mean the VISA office can very well say that she is till employed and hence reject her visa.

2. In online application there are no links to upload financial documents just the following for my wife and kids

1. IMM1295 E (for my wife)
2. IMM 5713 E
3. TRV application

5257B and 5257E for my kids

How to go about this?

3. What is the letter of explanation?

Thanks for your help?
