Open work permit for student spouse.

Dear All,

I am an international student in Canada(currently in Masters but will switch to PhD) and my study permit expires on Mar 2017(Will extend it once I switch into PhD).I got married on 25 th of Feb 2016.My spouse is currently in her final(VI) of her pharm D,she will complete her course by Aug 2016 and get her certificates by Jan 2017(She may get provisional in Sep 2016).

My question is Can she apply for open work permit?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes she can apply for Open Work Permit as a spouse of an International Student at a designated learning institute.

You should prove your relationship, status in Canada and sufficient funds for her expenses during the stay.

She will get OWP equal to the validity of your current study permit. And yes, if you get a new study permit for your Phd, you can apply for another OWP inside Canada.
