Open work permit for Live-In caregiver

Hi Expert,

My friend who is a Live-In Caregiver will turn 2 years on Nov 21, 2015,
She already accumulated 3900 hours and planning to submit the permanent residence application before Oct 21, 2015 together with an open work permit application.

Since the work permit application takes about 3 months to get approval for sure her current work permit will expires before she receives the open work permit.

Can she continue to work with the same employer after the work permit expires?

Is it a must to submit the open work permit application 30 days before the expiration of the current permit? or it's ok as long as it's prior to the expiration?

It must be submitted before the WP expiry date. 30 days before is a recommendation.

Thanks and one more question ;D , what if the permanent residence application got returned(incomplete documents for example) and the current work permit expires. Is she going to be out of status? and resubmitting application for the second time will require "Restoration of status?" and this means she can't continue to work with the same employer?.
