Open work permit extension query

Hello,

My post graduate open work permit is expiring tomorrow and I have applied for the extension one month earlier and have chosen the option as open work permit for the same employer on the work permit extension form. Now my employer does not want me to work for them during this extension period and want me to stop working on the last day of my work permit. So, can I not change the job once my work permit expires?
Please let me know if you have any knowledge on this.

It's not clear on what basis you have applied for the open work permit.

Under which criteria have you applied for an open work permit?

There aren't any extensions on PGWP. Your employer is correct an you must stop working until you receive PR.
