Open Work Permit Approval

Hi everyone,

My open work permit was approved as a part of my sponsorship. The actual permit will arrive in the mail, and I am to inform them if after 6 weeks it has not arrived. Being that I know it has been approved, do I still need to wait until it arrived before I can begin working?

Yes, because your employer is required to see proof of your status before they can hire you.

Also you will not have an active SIN without showing your work permit to Service Canada. No SIN - no work.

Don't worry though, it usually arrives within a week of approval, unless you live in a remote area.
