Hello All!

I am currently holding a post-graduate work permit which last until July 2013. I learned from the CIC website that my wife could apply for an open work permit as she used to.( She used to have an open work permit for about 4 years while I am studying with my study permit. In June 2010 when I apply for my post-graduate work permit I didn't apply for the extension of her work permit) Now, she is back in China and trying to apply again for the open work permit.

My questions are:

1. Do I need to have a job first so that she could apply ? If yes, are there any limits to my job?

2. As long as I remember, an open work permit doesn't need a job offer and a LMO, is that correct?

Thank you very much for your help!! :)

IMHO I don't think she is eligible for an open work permit, since you are no longer a student, and your job doesn't have to be in NOC A,B or O for you to work on your PGWP.

PMM,

My NOC is 3152. I think it falls on NOC class A. I have applied for working permit, and together with my application is my husband's multiple entry visa. Upon entering Canada, is my husband eligible for open working permit? Is there a need to apply for his work permit inside Canada? Does he need an employer and an LMO too to get the working permit? Please guide.

If he is granted a TRV (visitor is what you applied for, right?), then he can apply for an OWP when you get to Canada. You will get your closed WP and he can apply for the OWP then.
