I came to Canada with a 12 month employee-specific work permit as visiting scholar (NOC 4011) and my wife received an open spousal work permit at the entry border and found a job after a few months. The initial contract was 7 months until the end of our permits, but she has been told this can be extended.
Initially the extension was going to be >6 months and we were advised that she could apply for a employer-specific work permit and I would be eligible for a open work permit (as she is also NOC 4011). However the extension was then changed to only 5 months and when we tried at border we were told not possible as under 6 months so I can only get visitor permit.
Is there any way to solve this as the total contract is just over 12 months?
