Hi,

I had a few queries regarding this Ontario PNP - "Opportunities Ontario" program:

1) I was planning to do a 1 year Post Graduation diploma course in Advertising management from Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, will i qualify for 'Opportunities Ontario - Provincial Nominee Program'?

2) After completion of my 1 year PG diploma course, I'll apply for Post Graduation Work permit which will be for 1 year, So I'll be in Canada for 2 years (1 year PG studies and 1 year PGWP), so is this time (2 years) enough for me to apply for 'Opportunities Ontario - Provincial Nominee Program'? When Should I apply in these 2 years?

3) Once I apply to 'Opportunities Ontario - Provincial Nominee Program'. will i get a work permit? or should I apply for PGWP?

4) Will my Employer have to demonstrate recruitment efforts for hiring Canadians / PR's for the same position?

5) To qualify for 'Opportunities Ontario - Provincial Nominee Program' should my offer of permanent / full-time employment from an Ontario employer be related to my field of study?

I would appreciate your insights and guidance.

Thanking you.

Regards,
Merwyn Xavier

I know this topic is old but I'm interested in knowing the answers to Merwyn's questions.

1) The OPNP site states that one year PG certificates are eligible for PNP provided a bachelor's degree/diploma is their pre-requisite. Sheridan College's website for this program (http://www.sheridancollege.ca/Programs%20and%20Courses/Full-Time%20Programs/Programs%20A-Z%20Index/Advertising%20Management.aspx) states that work experience can be used as a substitute for one's lack of a previous degree/diploma. On the other hand, most PG certificates program on Humber College's website clearly state that a bachelor's degree is a must. Does this mean only Humber's PG certificate programs qualify for OPNP and not Sheridan's?

2) I think I'm clear on this one. Once you graduate and find a NOC 0/A/B job, you can apply immediately after your pre-screening is approved, right?

3) Another one I'm not sure about and would love to know the answer to.

4) The offer need not be related to one's field of study AFAIK.
