Hello Adviser,

I am Ram from India, got admission from Ryerson University for 1 Year Master’s degree program in Computer Networks.
My question: For 1 year master s program i will get 1 year post study work permit. Is this 1 year is sufficient enough to apply for PR in Ontario Canada.
According to Ontario nominee International Students – Masters Graduate Stream, without job offer we can apply for PR after graduation . However, still its quota based 2500 per year (Correct me if I am wrong). If the student did not get through in 1st year or postponed to another year, post study work permit visa will be expired because I have only 1 year post study work permit .Then how to stay back in Canada to get the PR.

E.g scenario with exact dates below for your reference:

I got admitted for 2017 sep intake. Let’s say I graduate 2018 sep in Ryerson. From sep 2018 to sep 2019 I can stay in Post study work permit. For example if I file the PR Application on November 2018, is it possible to get the PR with in stipulated 11 months period. If worst case scenario quota is filled for that year then ontario immigration will post pone my file to2020.But I cannot stay in the Canada because of my post study work permit will expired by the time sep2019. So what is the solution for this case?

Please advise me. I need your assistance. Based on your advice only I have to accept my offer of Ryerson.

Waiting for your reply ASAP.Thanks.

It's not advisable to go for a course that fetches you less than 3 years of Post Grad Work Permit particularly if you're interested in nomination from Ontario because OINP is quite unpredictable

Mr.harvijay1001 .Thank you so much for your reply.

Scenerio 1:
After graduation from 1year program ,if lets say with in 3 to 4 month if i landed job in my network engineering .In that case what are the possibilities to stay back in canada.I mean i have 1 year post study work permit,in that i spend 4 month for searching job .So remaining 8 month i can work for an employer. My doubt arise here ,after 8 month my employer will renew my work permit or i have to renew myself stating that i am working for this company.

Scenerio 2:

In ontario nominee master graduate stream with job offer.Ontario employers must first submit a Pre-Screen Application to have the position they wish to fill approved by OINP.After prescreen done then can file for PR.For this case also i have remaining 8 months. After 8 months my post study work permit expires. So for this case is it possible my employer will renew my work permit and i can continue working with same employer if not then i can t stay back,if cant stay back then getting PR also difficult. Please advise in this case.

Thanks.Ram

Neither of the scenarios you speak of sound practical.

From what I know about the job market, most employers will not even hire you if they know that they're gonna have to follow a process and sponsor you for work permit. Especially in a province like Ontario where there is no dearth of techies.

And if by some miracle, or by with-holding information, you do get a job... 8 months later they most probably won't sponsor you and you won't have 12 months of Canadian experience to apply under Canadian Experience Class of Express Entry...

So there you have it

Mr.Harvijay1001 Thanks for your prompt reply.

I also applied for the Dalhousie University. They defer my admission to Jan 2018 intake. That is 2 years program,so i will get 3 years post study work permit but not confirmed.May be they can offer me admission jan 2018 or again defer to sep 2018.

I already accept the offer from Ryerson and also waiting for Dalhousie reply.I have 2 option here .I can process for Ryerson visa and study for 3 month in ryerson then i will accept the offer from Dalhousie ,transfer university from Ryerson to Dalhouise(Cost Involved-Did Ryerson refund my tuition fees?) or may be wait until dalhousie reply and take dalhousie offer(can save some lakhs),defer my Ryserson admission to 2018 sep intake. What do you think?.f you are in my position what you will you do Mr Harvijay1001?.Waiting for your reply.

I have another idea (Please correct me if i am wrong). After completing 1 year program from Ryerson, take a break for 6 month and make some money from part time and apply for another 1 year program in Ontario province. So total i have 2 years of study in ontario ,now i am eligible to get 3 years work permit.is it 2 years study must be continuous or i can take a break for 6 month? Is it a feasible solution. What do you think?.

Other than mentioned above,if you have other options or great ideas .Please let me .I am open to all, and suggest me the feasible solution which will make my life easier,i mean not too much cost involve.

Waiting for your valuable reply.

Thanks-Ram.

That's up to you to decide whether money is more important or getting to Canada asap is more important for you. I can't make that call for you

NOPE! After 90 days, your study permit will become invalid so you can't even stay in Canada. Similarly, the 90 day gap in studies will make your degree at Ryerson ineligible for PGWP. I suggest you lookup the rules of applying for a PGWP first

Other than mentioned above,if you have other options or great ideas .Please let me .I am open to all, and suggest me the feasible solution which will make my life easier,i mean not too much cost involve.
