Hey guys,

Australian here who last year got their second round of 2 year visa approved.

Once I re entered Canada I had only gotten one year of the visa approved as my health insurance was only covering that one year (I had filed all of this last minute so my bad for only getting one year coverage), the immigration officers gave me a pretty hard time interrogating me so only one year was approved leaving me with the second year in limbo. Having paid for two years can I renew that second year as I have four months left on the year that was approved, or has it expired? Should I just go through the process again and get another round of IEC visa??

Thanks for your help and answer!!

As this was your second shot at this you cannot as I read it apply anymore given seems you already used up the second application for those who already participated prior to 2015.

Your only chance might have been at the time the 12 months was issued to return to the POE and show 2 years insurance and begged CBSA to change it to 2 years, unlikely but would have been worth a try.

There is now no way as I understand it to extend the IEC unless was issued as an admin error on behalf of CBSA or CIC which as the insurance requirement was not met cannot follow that path. Even if this option was open it is a paper not online option and current processing time is in region of 4 months, even at the end of 4 months no way to know what the outcome will be but likely in this case rejected.
